Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) is a Climate and Energy Security Think Tank led by a team of leading pro-bono researchers, the only of its kind in Australia.
It is comprised of a diverse group of individuals from all backgrounds and disciplines (academia, industry, government, regulatory roles), interested in finding solutions to climate change. Many of its staff/volunteers currently work in the fossil fuel sector, such as Exxon Mobil Refinery, BHP or the energy supply sector. They are partnered with several notable institutions, including the University of Melbourne's Energy Research Institute and Melbourne Sustainable Society Institute. Together, they are working to design a Zero Carbon Australia, to bring Australia into a 21st century as a green economy.
BZE is looking for an intern/volunteer who is willing to be part of a collaborative and innovative think tank. Opportunities exist in each of our research groups and the placement will be based on background and interests of the intern. The current projects that exist include Land Use (Forestry and Agriculture), Stationary Energy v2.0, Buildings and Transport.
Other areas within BZE are also open for interns to develop administrative, communication, and management skills. These areas include:
• Awards and Fund-raising
• Communications/Media
• Public Talks Program - training 1000 public speakers
• Actions
• Radio
• Video / Film (needs someone to start it up)
