The City of Melbourne holds Melbourne Conversations, a series of free public seminars with great speakers on topical issues. The Green Leaflet is the regular City of Melbourne green newsletter.

Parkville, North Melbourne and Carlton all have Sustainability Streets groups that are worth checking out. These groups meet regularly and engage in local grassroots activities.

Human Powered Cycles sell secondhand bikes, do repairs etc.
Critical Mass meet on the last Friday of the month at the State Library.
Bicycle Victoria is "a self-funded community organisation, dedicated to getting more people cycling more often."
